Welcome to the 2016-17 year in Preschool

Welcome to the 2016-17 school year.  I am the Speech and Language Pathologist who will be working in the classroom one day each week.  I am excited to be back at Boulder Creek and Highland Park preschools.

I created this blog so that you are able to stay connected with what is happening in the classroom the day that I am there.  It will allow you to keep up with our ‘doings’ and also allow you to comment, provide feedback, and share helpful information.

I travel to three different preschools.  I will be in Ms. Suzann’s room on Mondays, Ms. Starke’s room on Tuesdays and Ms. Vest’s class on Thursdays.  I will sometimes include links to a story I read and to songs we sing.  I do this so that you can have conversations with your child about their preschool day.  This will provide you with a catalyst (Did you read Spot Goes to School or Kiki’s Blankie today? Tell me about the experiment with the coconut that you did today.) for dialog about your preschoolers experiences.  This not only provides you with information, but it helps build speech and language skills in your preschooler!  How cool is that?  I will also provide access to the poems for the sound we are learning as well as a language extension page. This will allow you to practice the poems and enrich language through suggested ideas for home!  That’s your homework each week with your preschooler.

I know this will be a fabulous year in preschool with all of us working closely together to provide the best early intervention possible.  Thank you for sharing your child with me, it truly is the reason I love what I do.

  1. Yesterday was really rough for Keller. Raquel had a surprising time as well. I was hoping I could come to class for a few days, until they settled in, in a more healthy fashion. Would that be acceptable? I could help in class or just sit in the background.
